William Henry Gates is popularly known as Bill Gates was
born on 28th October 1955 and he is well known as the
co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. He is an American philanthropist,
investor, software developer and business magnate. He managed different roles
like chief software architect, president, chief executive officer and chairman
in Microsoft Corporation. He was the inventors of microcomputer revolution of
1970s and 1980s and well-known and is one of the well-known entrepreneurs. At
the age of 13, he wrote the first software programmers and he joined hands with
his childhood friend in 1975 for developing software for Microcomputers. He
founded Microsoft with his Childhood friend Paul Allen in 1975 and he is born
and brought in Seattle Washington. It becomes the largest software manufacturer
for personal computers in the world.
He
stepped down from the role of CEO and became chief software architect and
remained as chairman. He was criticized for the business strategies because
those have been recognized anti-competitive. He gives more focus on working
with private charity organization Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in June
2006, started by he and his wife in 2000. He slowly transferred his roles to
Craig and Raz Ozzie. In February 2014, he stepped down from Chairman role and
started a novel post as technical advisor for providing backup to the recently
joined CEO Satya Nadella.
Since
1987, he has been included in the World`s wealthiest people list by Forbes
Magazine. He holds the title of World`s wealthiest person from 1995 to 2017 and
he was surpassed by Jeff Bezos in October 2017 who is the CEO and Founder of
Amazon. The estimated earnings of Bill Gates was 113.7 billion which makes him
world`s second wealthiest person behind Bezos in August 2020. He performed many
Philanthropic endeavors after leaving from regular operations at Microsoft in
2008. The World`s largest private Charity Foundation Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation has given large amount of money for different scientific programs
and charitable organizations. The Giving Pledge by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates
in 2009, whereby they and other billionaires pledge to provide 50% of their
asset for charitable works.
